1934 Austin 7 RP Saloon - IMMACULATE - total nut and bolt restoration - suitable for a Concours d'Elegance if desired
PLEASE ENQUIRE - you simply will not find a better restored example. Over £20,000 has been spent on this car, but we are obviously not seeking this sum for this car - which the owner had expected to keep for many years and use it. He reckons this car has travelled about 2000 miles since total restoration.
This magnificent 1934 Austin 7 RP has been owned by a fastidious Austin 7 collector for 10 years in which time it has undergone a complete body-off no expense spared restoration.
- Body removed from chassis and completely rebuilt with new ash framing by Martin Prior and Son who finished all body panels with rust preventative primer
- The chassis was stripped down to the smallest component and professionally rebuilt by Car Developments with updated Austin Ruby balanced braking system. See picture of rolling chassis
- The steering has a reconditioned steering box and new adjustable drag link bearings and track rod swivel pins and bushes. A new steering arm is fitted
- All road springs were carefully refurbished and tested for correct rates.
- Shock absorbers were refurbished with new bearings and friction material and the front is a discreet new double action replacement to enhance shock absorbing and directional stability
- All brake components including actuators, levers and cables were replaced with new for Austin 7 Workshop and new linings bonded to the brake shoes.
- The rare long wheelbase banjo axle has new bearings, crown wheel and pinion and half shafts by Austin 7 Components.
- Wheels were rebuilt with new spokes and rims by specialist Nick Mouat. New hub bearings are fitted throughout.
- The propellor shaft is a new Hardy Spicer version from Austin 7 Components
- The body was re-united with the chassis see photo
- The engine was completely rebuilt with reground crack tested crank and re-metalled connecting rods running in new RM bearings from Austin 7 Workshop. See picture of rebuilt engine in chassis. All crankcase studs and threads were restored as new.
- A new surface ground -0.010 high compression head is now fitted
- All valves, springs and guides were replaced with new,
- All block threads and studs were restored and replaced and a re-bore was completed with new slipper pistons,
- The original Zenith carb was later replaced with an SU for enhanced performance and smoother running
- Refurbished dynamo and starter is fitted
- All wiring was replaced with vintage pattern metal wound cables.
- New Stuart Joseph correct pattern headlamps are fitted and the radiator surround is re-chromed.
- New rear lights and spare wheel carrier are fitted
- The primed body was treated to a meticulous 3 coat spray job
- The seats, carpets, headlining and sun roof were re-trimmed by renowned Austin 7 upholstery specialist Simon Laxton
- New battery and Avon tyres are fitted
This immaculate Austin is in the button and ready for concours events and enjoyable touring on short or long run
