1936 Riley Merlin 4-door Saloon - ABSOLUTELY ORIGINAL & RECENTLY RE-COMISSIONED
- NOW SOLD -
2 OWNERS FROM NEW - basically until 2019 (+ the present vendor)
£12,500
19,834 MILES REGISTERED FROM NEW - believed correct. (Warranted verbally by the second owner)
The first owner 19th November 1936 was Mr F Whitby, and then his widow May Tyndale Whitby of Beech Grove, Corfe Mullen, Dorset - certainly still owned by her when the registration book was stamped on the same day and month by the local authority on 19th November 1961.
A receipt on 27th April 1970 for £420 from Goadsby & Harding, local land agents and auctioneers here showed that a Mr Davidson was then the new owner. Could they have been acting on behalf of a by then elderly Mrs Whitby? Second owner therefore Mr J N Davison, of Paradise Farm, Higher Shaftesbury Road, Blandford, Dorset DT11 8LD
Look at the last photo - the underside is absolutely lovely!
Black with cream wheels and blue leather.
Totally original. No MOTs because it hasn’t been on the road since one was required.
Sympathetic new owner sought, prepared to live with the car as it is, maintaining only where & when necessary - are you that person?
Oil and filter changed, gearbox oil changed, new battery and now running with new V5C.
Still has original radiator muff, jack, manufacturer’s warranty (now expired!) original instruction book, copy of continuation log book, bills of sale etc.
She comes with instruction books, plus instruction on how to drive a pre-select gear box, a Lucas Running Instructions for electric lighting plus lots of other interesting bits. This car has been verified by the Riley Register and comes with a V5C Registration Document. The seats have inflatable air cushions. The doors shut as they did when they left the factory with that satisfactory clonk.
If you are looking for pre-war atmosphere - here it is!
