MG TC Timeline

Produced for a short period between September 1945 and November 1949, some 10,000 examples were built, all in right hand drive, even for the valuable American market.

Immediately after the second world war MG produced the TC model sharing the same TB engine but with a higher compression ratio to 7.4:1 which at 5200 rpm gave nearly 55bhp – the engine known as the “XPAG” 1250cc push rod OHV 4 cylinder engine.

With 4-speed gearbox with synchromesh on 2nd, 3rd and top, ½ elliptic suspension, 19” wheels, fuel consumption was around 28mpg, with a 0-60 mph time of 22.7 seconds, maximum speed was 78mph, the price in 1947 being £527.

One notable customer for the TC was the late Duke of Edinburgh who owned one before marrying Princess Elizabeth, the future Queen, in 1947. Also popular with Forces personnel post war.
